Birmingham City have announced the signing of 29 year old Robert Tesche on a free transfer.

Tesche was released by Forest after enjoying a productive loan spell with the Blues. He has now signed for Gary Rowett's team on a permanent basis.

At first glance, it might seem like another case of Forest allowing a player to leave without begin savvy enough to recoup any money for him. However, Forest signed him for nothing after his release from Hamburg and by getting him off the books now, are saving a big wedge of money in terms of his wages.

As competent as Tesche was for Forest, he never really did much to suggest he might develop into a key performer around whom a team might be built. Despite his neatness on the ball, games sometimes passed him by to the degree that you occasionally forgot he was playing - not a great asset in a central midfielder.

So, all the best to Robert and no doubt we can look forward to him screaming one in from 25 years at St. Andrews followed by a muted celebration.

Here's a compilation of his best bits...no, really.
