After an underwhelming start to his Forest career, Chris Bart-Williams redefined himself as something of a free scoring libero, operating as a ball playing sweeper.
Joining the club in 1995 from Sheffield Wednesday, he went on to become something of a mainstay for the next seven years - a bright light during some dark times. He scored an impressive 30 goals from 207 appearances, either as a sweeper or a deep lying midfielder. His expertise from set pieces was highly impressive.
Since 2002, Bart-Williams' career is something of a mystery, taking in loan spells here and there, including short spells in Cyprus and the footballing hotbed that is Malta. It seems that he then surfaced in America to do some spots of coaching but verification of this has been difficult to find.
He will always be remembered for his exquisitely taken goal against Reading which secured the club's return to the Premier League.
